26th April 2022 was a bittersweet day for all of us at Mythstories.

Back in 1999 when Mythstories opened its doors to the public it had just 15 books in a chained library, by 2022 the museum held the Society for Storytelling / Mythstories Library of almost 3000 titles.

The day had come for the collection to move to a new home.

We were sad to see it go but were delighted to pass the Library on to The Centre for Folklore, Myth and Magic in Todmorden, West Yorkshire.

Members of the public can sit and read the books in their beautiful library space, and storytellers and folklorists can spend time researching in a comfortable welcoming environment. There’s even a cafe!
