Over the past five weeks Mythstories has hosted a student from University of Chester for his Work-Based Learning. This was the original brief…
Mythstories plans to work with Shropshire artists and members of the community to create a ‘St Rumwald’s Day’ celebratory event in Shrewsbury. We seek a self-motivated person to undertake preliminary research on the story of this 6th Century Shrewsbury-born saint, who died aged 3 days (or hours) and uncover the historical, social, political and geographical context in which the story evolved. Working independently, you will feedback and discuss your findings regularly with our staff produce a final report on the background information and an audio recording, suitable for podcast, of your research and conclusions.
On interviewing Jordan and discovering his area of study, the performing arts, we revised the brief to producing a Mummers Play instead of the more formal final report.
Here is Jordan’s podcast…
You’ll have to wait to see the Mummers Play, its public premiere will be at the St. Rumwald’s Day celebratory event on November 3rd 2023 in Rumwaldsham, Shrewsbury.
