Here's one of the paintings from the Mythstories collection not currently on display in the museum. It was a long time coming; Dez began painting it in 1987 and completed it twenty one years later in 2008.
The painting illustrates the story "The Mouse That Grew", a deeply moral folktale from India which appears elsewhere on the website. Click here to read or listen to the first part of the story (parts two and three are available as continuations).
The story is accompanied by some rather splendid depictions of the various incarnations of the mouse throughout his learning journey. The collages were created by pupils from Stokesay Primary School in South Shropshire as part of a Cultural Sharing project, learn more here.
The Mythstories collection of paintings is available at the BBC Your Paintings website. The easiest way to find them is to put Quarrell into the 'Find A Painting' search bar.
If, when you visit the museum, you would like to see any of the paintings not currently on display we would be happy to fetch them from the store for you, just ask.
